BOARD OF MANAGMENT

Board of Managment

A description of the BOM – members and nominating groups, awareness and fulfilment of role, functions and responsibilities/statutory obligations.

The BOM is a very important component of the college’s management system. It is very aware of the importance of its role. It is also keenly aware of the school and the needs and abilities of its students.

  • There is a high level of communication between the board and the management of the school.
  • The Board undergoes training by Co. Louth VEC when it is formed to ensure that it is aware of its role and responsibilities.
  • Modules of relevant training are delivered regularly at Board meetings.

Members

Mr Eamon Kinch - chairperson of current Board of Management and retired economics lecturer in Dundalk Institute of Technology. Eamon is also former chairperson of Co. Louth VEC and has been nominated to this board as an expert in second and third level education.

Mr Gary Gilligan – Teacher of Metalwork and Engineering Studies in O’ Fiaich College and nominated as teacher representative to the Board.

Ms Philomena O’ Connor
– Teacher of English and Communications in O’ Fiaich College and noiminated on this board as teacher representative.

Ms Theresa Lawlor Bashford – is a member of O’ Fiaich College Parents Association and has been nominated to this board as Parent Representation.

Ms Ann Duffy – is the chairperson of O’ Fiaich College Parents Association and has been nominated to this board as Parent Representation.

Ms Nuala Donnelly – is a former Further Education learner at O’ Fiaich Institute of Further Education and is nominated to this board as student representation from Higher Education.

Mr Declan Ward – is a former post-primary and further education learner at O’ Fiaich College. Declan is currently responsible for international sales and marketing for Hewlett Packard. He is nominated to this board as representation from commerce, industry and employment.

Colr. Colm Markey – is a member of Louth County Council and Co. Louth VEC. He is nominated as representative of CLVEC.

Colr. Jim Ryan - is a member of Louth County Council and Co. Louth VEC. He is nominated as representative of CLVEC.

Mr Padraig Mc Govern – is the Principal of O’ Fiaich College. He is the secretary of this Board of Management.

Ms Karen Patton – is the Deputy Principal of O’ Fiaich College. She is nominated to this board as the representation for the school management team.

Members share their individual skills purposefully to support the development of the school and engage proactively in policy formulation and review.

The priorities for school development identified by the BOM

  • To provide the best possible educational service for the growing enrolment of post-primary pupils.
  • To cope constructively with educational cutbacks and maintain good educational service to learners.
  • To promote the value of education and lifelong learning to the community.
