10th Asia Europe Classroom Network (AEC-NET)
The 10th Asia Europe Classroom Network (AEC-NET) conference took place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk between 07 and 11 November 2011. The AEC-NET is a project of the Asia Europe Foundation based in Singapore, and the conference was hosted by Co. Louth VEC in collaboration with the Department of Education and Skills.
The AEC-NET Conference has taken place annually since 2001 and gathers together teachers and educators who take a keen interest in fostering collaborations among their students through innovative and interactive collaborative online learning and inter-cultural exchanges.
The theme of this year’s conference is "Apps in Asian and European Classrooms: Unleashing Educational Creativity".
Five students from India, Sweden, Italy and Singapore joined the 3A class for two days. On the first day the students participated in a Science class where they analysed DNA from fruit, engaged in PE , English and SPHE classes. This was followed by a trip to Causey Farm on Day two where all the students experienced some traditional Irish activities like milking a cow, baking bread, playing the Bodhran, ceili dancing etc. All the students thoroughly enjoyed their time together
